Ray Charles is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Blues Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, Grammy Hall of Fame, Jazz Hall of Fame, Georgia Music Hall of Fame and Florida Artists Hall of Fame. In 1998 he received the coveted Polar Music Prize. After his death, the Grammy Award Show was dedicated to him in 2005. His version of "Georgia On My Mind" became the official anthem of the US state of Georgia in 1979. Ray Charles died of liver cancer on June 10, 2004 at the age of 73.
